On Saturday the 25th of July Peamount were well represented with a total of five players in the Irish under 17 squad friendly win over Northern Ireland This age group is now coached David Bell and the Irish boss was pleased with the performance his new charges produced. The fixture was arranged to launch the famous Northern Ireland Milk Cup which will feature female teams for the first time next year.
Peamounts Tiegan Ruddy put Bell’s side ahead in the 55th minute when she turned the ball home after getting in front of her marker to steer home from her club team mate Lauryn O’Callaghan free-kick.
Niamh Sheehan added the second Irish goal two minutes from time when she found the net after an excellent passing move by the visitors.
Next game up is in September when the squad play Scotland in a double-header.

Ireland got their World University Games campaign off to a satisfactory start in Gwangju, South Korea when both the Men’s and Women’s sides managed to take draws for their opening group fixtures.
Rachael Doyle (Maynooth University/Peamount Utd) was a second half sub for Ireland in the Women’s Group A encounter with Chinese Taipei: Ireland 1 (C O’Riordan 20) Chinese Taipei 1 (H Pao 36); The other group result was Korea 3 Czech Rep 1.
Ireland will now take on China on Sunday and Russia on Tuesday with the top two sides qualifying for the quarter finals.
Open training session are to be held on Thursday 9th July from 7-9pm in Peamount Utd for our Women’s National League and Ladies Winter league teams, all players from the age of 16 upwards welcome. Please bring football boots and runners.

Assistant manager Pat Trehy had played in League of Ireland former goalkeeper : Shamrock rovers (LOI) at James gate (LOI) Bray Wanderers(LOI) Limerick (LOI) Monaghan Utd (LOI) and Cobh Rambers (LOI) and current Republic of Ireland masters over 40s international goalkeeper.
James O’Callaghan, played in LOI and LSL, coached in underage schoolboy and men’s, most recently Asst Manager and coach in Peamount U16 Girls squad, UEFA A licence holder.
