Peamount ladies stepping up at the highest level.

Wonderful to see Peamount ladies continue to answer the call to represent at the Senior National and National Development levels, making selections to play for Ireland and Northern Ireland.  With Aine O’Gorman and Karen Duggan recently stepping down from national duties, Niamh Farelly, Amber Barrett continue to represent the country, indeed Niamh was recently crowned FAI Under 19 Women’s Player of the Year.

Peamount are also proud to see the work and discipline of players rewarded at development ages by being called up to play for the U17, U16 and U15 Ireland Teams, and the U16 Northern Ireland Team.

Orla Prendergast and Della Doherty represented Ireland at U17 level in Scotland and Iceland.

Emma Ring, Jessie Stapleton, Hazel Cawley, Becky Watkins, and Della Doherty travelled to Belgium with the U16 Ireland team.

Double All Ireland Champs! Some Memories of the day.

Memories of a wonderful day in Tullamore on 31st March when the club was represented in two separate age groups of the Girls FAI All Ireland Cups.  Emma Donohoe’s U14 squad took on Mervue United from Galway, and Sean Kelly’s U16 squad met Hannover Harps from Carlow. A rare achievement for any club to have a double finalists.

Both games were closely fought affairs; Mervue United were one goal ahead for most of the U14 final before Peamount fought back to level the scores mid way through the second half and then score a fantastic winner to lift and retain the U14 cup a second year.

The U16 game was equally tight; there were goal scoring opportunities for both side being created throughout however the game appeared locked until Peamount found the net twice within two minutes just before the half time break.  Hannover Harps played right through to the last moment but were unable to break down the Peamount side.

Well done to all the players and coaches.  Hayden Moore, of the Echo.ie, has written a terrific report on the games, check it out here.
