Peamount U14 Major.
Great 2-1 win away to a strong Leixlip Utd. on Saturday in our first game of the season. Peamount dominated from early on and played with an air of confidence and determination. The lead was taken after a great through ball from Aran Murray to Conor Jameson, who with still a bit of work to do, blasted the ball into the top right corner. Indeed the lead should have been increased on several occasions only to be denied by the post twice and saves by the Leixlip keeper.
The second half was a more intense encounter and with Peamount pressing to increase their lead, Leixlip equalised on the break. Despite conceding the goal, the team spirit of Peamount never deflated. Instead they showed their true character and with the game looking certain for a draw, they dug deep and again Aran Murray played another delightful through ball to Adam Mooney, who with a sweet left foot strike, found the bottom right hand corner of the Leixlip net with 2 minutes left on the clock. In the dying moments of the game Leixlip won a free on the right wing and from the resulting free kick, Peamount Goal Keeper Gavin McConville soared through the air and pulled the high delivery into his safe clutches. With that the ref blue his whistle to finish the game.
