17 Super make a confident startOur under 17 Super side began their Group D campaign with a  well deserved home win against Shelbourne FC. Following a  bright start the home side were nearly off the mark in the  opening minutes when a great build up saw Alex Carr almost open his account. Peamount continued the build on the strong start with Jordan Sangari and Eoin Hunter creating chances down the left flank. The home side took the lead on 17 minutes after a great build up and combination involving Eoin Hunter, Cian Lynch to set Alex Carr free who confidently rounded the keeper and score from an acute angle. Peamount should have increased the lead when another goal bound effort clipped the post. Peamount’s second was a brilliantly worked goal with great interplay ending with an pin point cross from Eoin Hunter for Alex Carr to head home from close range. Shelboune were limited to very few chances but did  get a goal against the run of play when poor marking at the back post from a corner allowed a soft score for the visitors. The home side forced several corners and saw Joe Weldon go close with a headed effort and another chance cleared off the line with Shels keeper beaten. The only other down downside of the first half was the injury to Dylan Hennesey. Get well soon Dylan. The second half followed a similar pattern with Peamount dominant and creative in the attacking third. Keeper Paddy Pender maintained his concentration and showed excellent agility to make a point blank save from one of Shelboure’s rare attacks. On the hour mark a defence splitting pass and great footwork saw Alex Carr race into the box only to be taken down by the retreating Shelbourne defender resulting in a penalty and the player being sent off. Eoin Hunter stepped forward and converted the penalty restoring the two goal lead. Sam Jordan delivered an excellent passing display in the centre of the park aided by a strong performance by Florin Ilies.  Cian Lynch was unlucky not to score when his goal bound effort was cleared off the line. Defenders Ryan Mc Grane and Craig Mc Loughlin were solid at full back. Peamount continued to create chances with shots from Jordan Sangari and Eoin Hunter going close. This was a result built on strong defence led by Daniel Gaffney and Brian Abejide and good all round team work rate.Peamount 3 Shlebourne 1Scorers : Alex Carr (2) Eoin Hunter (1) PenTeam – Paddy Pender, Dylan Hennesey, Brian Abejide, Daniel Gaffney, Craig Mc Loughlin, Joe Weldon, Sam Jordan, Jordan Sangari, Eoin Hunter, Cian Lynch, Alex Carr – Subs all used Ciaran Daniels, Cezar Murariu, George Kenny, Florin Ilies and Ryan Mc Grane.
